Our Vision for Mobility

Mobility has always been an exciting topic at Bosch. Right from the time our innovation engine was kick-started at the dawn of the 20th century, we’ve been laser focused in our vision of creating the mobility of the future with our inventions and solutions. Mobility Platform and Solutions is an ambitious step in the same direction – geared toward helping create an accident-free, emission-free future for mobility.

The Soul Behind the Solutions

Whether it’s our mobility-focused “vertical” solutions in logistics, people movement, and asset utilization, or the “horizontal” value stacks that we provide to empower businesses in mobility, our north pole has always been to be an enabler of edge innovation in the ecosystem. We believe that the path to achieving our vision for mobility involves collaboration with the whole ecosystem of manufacturers, shippers, service providers, software vendors, and other players.

From its inception, the thinking behind MPS was around creating digital platforms and marketplaces for mobility anchored around the themes: Planet, People and Profits. Through this blog, I intend to provide you an insight into the variety of strategic topics we are executing towards this vision.

Mobility Now and Next

Given the variety of new choices on how to travel and the vulnerabilities in our supply chains that were uncovered by global socioeconomic black swans like conflicts and the pandemic we went through, the mobility ecosystem has undergone silent, but significant upheavals. Undoubtedly, we have a before and an after era for mobility, especially after COVID-19. It has become important – under these trying circumstances – for mobility players to shift towards using scenario-based thinking to create possibilities. So, how will mobility evolve both for goods and people in the coming decade?

Scenarios give us a chance to dream about the future descriptions of possible situations. Visualizing them in a picture allows us to imagine possibilities. It opens our minds towards thinking about alternatives and windows of possibilities. At MPS, we’ve personally put together multiple scenarios in an image that represents our best guess at the future of mobility – a rendition of Mumbai’s Marine Drive as a picture of the future. This very image is a wireframe of the elements we have imagined at MPS to be a part of the mobility ecosystem.

Mobility Platform and Solutions: The Crucible

In the next 20 years, society will adapt and respond to a newer equilibrium, albeit a metastable one. Regardless, given this immense opportunity, we brought a purpose-led team together to explore and identify different paths of towards bringing in clarity into this world of VUCA (volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity). Given the complexity of our geographies, industries, and supply chains, we balance our approach with a combination of global platform thinking and hyperlocal solutions that coexist – an idea that led to the creation of Bosch’s "Mobility Platform and Solutions".

Thank you for reading this far. I hope this piece has something for everyone – whether you’re our customer, our partner, our well-wisher, or a part of our team. As an ecosystem that’s rapidly evolving, we hope to bring some clarity to the chaos and empower the rich and diverse economy of value providers emerging in this space. We need your help to achieve this, and to ultimately reach our goal of accident-free and emission-free mobility, powered by our fascinating technology!
